Santa Sniffers and Holiday Hounds
Dogs love the holidays. It’s that time of year for new sights, brand new smells, and a new pretty present to sniff out and unwrap….
Well, let’s hope not. Statistics show that men do tend to cheat more around the holidays. Why? Let’s explore some excuses men have stated as to why they stray from home and hearth during the holidays to seek out new, exciting adventures.
1. They feel left out.
Wives can get involved in shopping, wrapping, decorating, cooking, visiting their families and making all the plans and sometimes a poor pooch just doesn’t get petted enough. If a dog seeks out a new plaything, he’ll get tons of new attention and reasons to wag his tail. To us, this is no excuse. Go shopping with your wife! Watch all the great children’s shows that are on TV with your kids. Spend time with your family. Better than getting caught playing “Let’s unwrap our presents†with the new kitty down the street.
2. The holidays are a time to reflect on what one doesn’t have.
If Fido can’t provide for his family around the holiday season, or feel he hasn’t performed well in other areas of the marriage, sad thoughts or feelings of inadequacy are more likely to rear their ugly heads around the holidays. Perhaps his friends all gave their wives new jewelry or bought their kids the latest X-Box. Instead of admitting he feels badly about not providing for his family like he feels he should have, he may look for some reassurance from a new kitty kat that will treat him with a newfound respect and admiration. No excuse Fido! Enjoy the toys you and your kids already have. Go bike riding together, play board games, bond during the holidays. Know you’ve been a great dad and have done your best to provide for your family.
3. Sometimes a dog just gets bored.
The wife is out shopping, the kids are at the in-laws and he is sitting on the couch watching football all alone. Men say they are tempted to contact a probable conquest to entertain themselves. No excuse! Watch football with your bloodhound buds instead.
During the holidays more men are caught cheating than at any other time. The dogs get lazy and sloppy. They don’t cover up their mess properly. They may leave a receipt for a gift for someone other than his wife lying around, or perhaps a present to his new secretary from Victoria’s Secret and his wife caught him and he landed in the dog house.
Why do you think men cheat more during the one time families should bond? Has this ever happened to you?
